Though a new addition to the Triton Basketball coaching staff for the 2014-15 season, Assistant Varsity Coach Matthew King is certainly no stranger to San Clemente basketball.
Coach King started coaching locally with the National Junior Basketball All-Net program during the 2006 season. Now, he manages the entire NJB program for the San Clemente chapter. Almost every player on this year's the Triton Basketball rosters played NJB at some point during their youth careers. Additonally, Coach King started a new program in 2014, King's Basketball Club, where he has enjoyed success developing players and building new teams. His coaching responsibilities with Triton |
Basketball will include player development for all divisions.
Among his the highlights of his coaching career is leading the NJB Elite Club program. In 2014, his NJB Elite team competed in the AAU Division 1 Nationals in Orlando, where it posted a 4-2 record against some of the best teams in the nation. The squad wrapped up 2014 as one of the top-ranked AAU teams in the entire State of California. Coach King earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Liberty University. He and his wife, Diana, have a son named Kenneth. He says they are all very excited to be a part of the SCHS Triton family. |
