San Clemente was without its second-leading scorer, Joe Mann, who sat out his second-consecutive game with a tender ankle. But it got back its all-league second team forward, Cole Fotheringham, from the Triton Footbal team and its all-league honorable mention guard, Cade Griffin, from a lingering back injury.
But slowed-down by the Warriors' zone defense, the Tritons shot a season-low 32.7 percent (18 of 55) from the field, only 13.6 percent (3 of 22) on three pointers. Only six San Clemente players scored, led by Scott Herrod and Gage Shelmidine with 12 each. Nick Crankshaw added 10; Griffin, 8; Fotheringham, 6; and Dillon Waikle, 5.
The varsity returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 13, in its 2014-15 home opener against La Jolla, which will be part of the OC/San Diego Challenge being held at SCHS, with four varsity games beginning at 1:30 p.m.
