Tonight, he found himself in the starting lineup in his debut, that decision simplified for Head Coach Marc Popovich by the illness of forward Cole Fotheringham. Shelmidine contributed 5 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. His backcourt mate, Elijah Morris played in major role in getting San Clemente off to a hot start. He hit most of his game-high 19 points, including five three-pointers, early in the game.
San Clemente led 17-11 after one period of play, extending the lead to 34-21 at the half. The lead was 15 after three periods, allowing the Tritons to more or less coast home.
Sam Darnold had 15 points along with a double-double producing 12 rebounds. He rounded out his stat line with four assists and six steals. Nick Crankshaw missed his double-double by a single rebound, finishing with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Austin Miller and Rico Young, Jr. each added four points. They had five and seven rebounds, respectively.
