University led 24-9 at the end of the first quarter. And despite a small Triton rally in the second quarter, during which they outscored the Trojans 17-15, University never really looked back from its early advantage.
The second quarter was the only quarter during which San Clemente scored in double figures. It also only had one player in double figures, Logan Dunnwald with 12.
In fact, no other Triton player scored more than four, something five players accomplished: Chris Kane, Frankie Lewis, Curtis Whimpey, Branden Wilson and Bryce Wilson. Other Triton scoring came from Calvin Pastel, 3; Fletcher Ames, Ryan Cattich and and Nick Martino, 2 each; and Calin Chin, 1. The Tritons were plagued by a rough day at the free throw line, from which they shot only 37 percent.
San Clemente's freshmen hope to get back on the winning track at 4 p.m. Tuesday when they travel to Woodbridge in Irvine.
