The Tritons led 14-13 at the end of the first quarter. They trailed by two early in the second period when another reserve guard, senior Dylan Hauser, provided a spark off the bench. By the time he left the game six minutes later, San Clemente led by eight, and would never trail again, though they were tied several times. Hauser was 3 of 3 from the field for 6 points.
Dillon Wailkle, hampered by foul trouble through most of the game, was the only other Triton player in double figures. He had 11 points to go with 5 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Cole Fotheringham and Gage Shelmidine both flirted with double doubles. Each had 9 points. Fotheringham combined this with 12 rebounds, while Shelmidine had 8 assists. Additional San Clemente scoring came from James Paterson and Michael Moran with 2 points each.
The Tritons (9-3) return to tournament action at 4:30 P.M. Monday in a quarterfinal game against Colony (10-2).
