San Clemente kept up the pressure in the second period, pulling ahead 26-21 at the half. Then the Tritons opened the third with an 8-0 run to build what they thought was a comfortable lead.
But in the final 30 seconds, Troy pulled within two before Lukas Katsandris with a free throw and layup and Dylan Hauser with a steal helped close out the game.
It is the sophomore's fourth consecutive win, as they prepare to host Capistrano Valley Friday with an opportunity to avenge December 5th's loss to the Cougars. In that game, the Tritons were playing without starting center Donte Harrington and starting point guard Hauser, who were out with injuries.
Against Troy, Triton scorers were led by Hauser with 17. Aidan Butler joined him in double figures with 10. Justin Kowalski added 8; Bennett Secrest, 6; Katsandris and Dillon Waikle, 5 each; and Andrew Frohner and Brad Ross with 2 each.
