San Clemente led 35-33 at the half before they were blitzed by Capo in the third. The Tritons only scored 6 points in the quarter, and trailed 44-39 at the end of three. From there, they struggled against Capo's
extended zone defense in the fourth, but scratched their back to a tie. The Tritons had possession with six seconds remaining in regulation, and couldn't get off a good shot.
The game went back and forth in overtime. San Clemente, trailing by one, had the ball with 15 seconds remaining, but turned it over. They got it back with 5 seconds left, and had to settle for an unsuccessful half-court heave.
In the loss, sophomore forward Daniel Klevit led Triton scorers with 15 points and a double-
double producing 12 rebounds. He also recorded 6 of the team's 12 blocked shots. Jake Cameron added 9 points; Tyler Voigt, 8; Marcus Wilson, 7; Dean Licht, 3; and Brandon Reaves, Jake Russell, Tucker Scott and Cullen Tayrien, 2 each. Wilson added a team-high 15 rebounds.
The Triton Junior Varsity opens league play at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at San Juan Hills.
