The game was not nearly as close as the final score, with San Clemente (14-7, 2-2) leading by eight at the half, 11 at the three-quarter mark and 15 midway through the fourth. From there, a little bit of foul trouble on forwards Daniel Klevit and Marcus Wilson slowed the Tritons down a bit. But the outcome was never in danger. The duo tied for team high in rebounds with 7 each, but were held well off their season scoring averages with 4 and 2 points, respectively.
Jake Cameron led Triton scorers with 14, and was one of three players with 5 assists. Klevit and Dean Licht also accomplished the feat during a game in which San Clemente had an assist on 20 of its 21 field goals. Jake Russell added 4 assists. The only other Triton player to score in double figures was Joey Giazzon with 10. Brandon Reaves added 9; Tyler Voigt, 8; Licht, Russell and Shaughn Ritchie, 2 each.
The junior varsity returns to action at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when it hosts Tesoro.
