In addition to posting an undefeated league record, the Tritons finished the regular season on an 11-game winning streak, which means they did not lose a regular-season game in 2015. Their last loss was in December.
Against Dana, it looked early on like San Clemente could be celebrating early. It jumped out to a 22-11 lead at the end of the first period. But Dana fought back, outscoring the Tritons 14-7 in the second period to trail only 29-25 at the half. San Clemente built its lead back up to 10 in the third period, but no more. And the Dolphins repeatedly made clutch three pointers, including a couple that banked in, to cut the margin and make their long-time rival fight to the final buzzer before celebrating.
A double-double by Sam Darnold (20 points, 14 rebounds) led the Tritons. Both were team highs. Nick Crankshaw turned in another near triple-double performance with 11 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Joe Mann's nine rebounds included three in the final 90 seconds to clear Dana Hills' possessions.
Additional Triton scoring came from Cade Griffin, six; Scott Herrod and Mann, five each; Dillon Waikle, three; and Cole Fotheringham and Scott Herrod, two each.
