The 27-point performance from Daniel Klevit and 60 percent three-point shooting (9 of 15) from the team was not enough to hold off the Titans, who took advantage of Triton fouls to record a 12-point advantage at the free throw line, 25-12. Tesoro shot 31 foul shots to San Clemente's 24.
Overall, there were 175 points scored. That's a pace of 5.5 per minute. San Clemente led by five at the end of the first quarter, 18-13, but trailed by two at the half and three-quarter marks.
Despite the high scoring, only two other Tritons besides Klevit were in double figures, Jake Cameron and Dean Licht with 13 each. Marcus Wilson added 8; Brandon Reaves, 7; Tyler Voigt and Jake Russell, 5 each; Rafael Caro, 4; and Shaughn Ritchie, 2. Klevit posted a a strong overall line with a team-high 12 rebounds to go with 3 assists and 4 steals. Russell had a team season-high 10 assists.
The junior varsity plays the loser of Corona Del Mar and El Toro at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
