The 2013-14 Triton freshman team definitely won in upper case, posting the best frosh record in school history at 24-1. And it avenged its only loss.
Though nine of those players have been promoted to the Triton Junior Varsity, there is no shortage of talent on the 2014-15 sophomore squad, especially at the guard position. In fact, 11 of the 15 players on the roster, including the two players named Kai, list guard as their primary position.
That means the listed bigs, center Zach Cochrun, forward/center Eric Ord and forwards Daniel Mircheff and Michael Moran will literally have to play big. And guard/forwards Tyler Hickey and Hunter Knights will probably see a good portion of their playing time in the front court.
Those guards will include the two Kais, Hadsall and Nguyen, with Nguyen being the only player on the team who was not part of the 2013-14 frosh squad.
They'll be paced by Chris DeGrazia, who was a sometimes starter and big-minute rotation player on that freshman team.
Alphabetically, the other guards are Trevor Ankrom, Jake Bang, Kurt Crapo, Bren Eissman, Matt Kerr and Jimmy Varos.
These players showed their potential over the summer, closing it out by going undefeated in the Tesoro Tournament to win the championship.
The team now has more than two months of preparation to see how well it can continue that class of 2017's winning ways.
It will open play December 1 in the Capo Valley Tournament.
