THREE-PEAT!!! SOUTH COAST LEAGUE CHAMPS AGAIN!!!

MARCH 21, 2017 Before the 2016-17 season tipped off, the consensus was Aliso Niguel and El Toro were the odds-on favorites to compete for the top spot in the very competitive South Coast League division 1A conference. San Clemente was the incumbent champion for the prior two years and had also been champion 3 of the last four years, but with a very talented South Coast League, the battle would be uphill for San Clemente according to most of the preseason polls. After putting together a string pre-league record, 2017 started off with a 1 point comeback win against Troy being down by 5 with 20 seconds left, and then another exciting finish in the league opener vs. Trabuco Hills where the Tritons came back from a 6 point deficit with 40 seconds left to win by 4. After that victory, destiny was in sight and the Tritons rolled through the South Coast League, going 7-1 down the stretch and finishing the season with a 20-9 record (8-1 League), and a third straight South Coast League title, making that 4 out of the last 5 years where San Clemente holds the South Coast League championship title! The Tritons will look to build on the streak next year and go for an unprecedented 4 in a row!
